Risks of cataract surgery for high myopia

Cataract surgery with high myopia is more risky than conventional cataract surgery. It is mainly related to high myopia. With the increase of myopia, the eye axis is gradually stretched, and in this case, cataract surgery has a higher chance of intraoperative bleeding or posterior capsule rupture than normal people. After surgery, the risk of secondary retinal fissure formation or retinal detachment is also higher than normal due to the change of intraocular environment. However, cataracts should be treated with early surgery and must be treated in a regular hospital. Operators are required to operate accurately to avoid excessive interference with the intraocular environment, and regular follow-up examinations are needed after surgery, including vision, intraocular pressure and fundus examination, so that complications can be detected and treated early.
