How many types of IOLs are available for cataract surgery?

IOLs in cataract are mainly divided into the following categories: 1. Rigid IOLs cause a certain amount of astigmatism after surgery, and have a greater response and a longer recovery time in the short term after surgery.

At present, most (over 95%) of the patients will choose this type of IOL because this type of IOL usually does not require sutures after surgery, and the astigmatism is also smaller, and the recovery time is a bit faster.

2.Specially treated IOL For some patients with specific eye diseases, they may need this type of IOL, such as heparin surface treated IOL, which has much less inflammatory reaction after surgery.

3. Multifocal/Adjustable IOLs These IOLs are designed to meet both distance and near vision requirements, which the above-mentioned types of IOLs cannot do. Multifocal IOLs are made with multiple focal points on one IOL to meet the requirements of different distances from near and far.

You can choose the right IOL for you by talking with your doctor according to your financial situation.
