What does LSIL low-grade squamous epitheliopathy mean?

LSIL low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions indicate mild and moderate atypical cell proliferation. Clinically, squamous intraepithelial lesions are categorized as low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) and high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) based on their pathologic changes. Of these, low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions include mild to moderate atypical hyperplasia and are mainly associated with HPV infection. Low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions are mild and rarely progress to invasive carcinoma when treated with timely intervention. Early low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions do not require much stress and can be followed up regularly if there are no obvious symptoms.Patients with HPV infection should receive antiviral therapy at the same time and maintain a good lifestyle. If the lesion persists, it can be treated with cryotherapy or laser. If there is a tendency of deterioration, it can be treated with partial cervical cerclage, and biopsy can be performed if necessary. It is recommended that patients should follow the doctor’s instructions for timely and active treatment and regular follow-up to avoid delay.
