Patients are not advised to stop taking ezetimibe on their own if there are no significant adverse effects after taking it, no myopathy and the doctor has not asked to stop the drug. Ezetimibe is a class of lipid-lowering drugs that can be used to treat conditions such as primary hypercholesterolemia and pure familial hypercholesterolemia. Adverse reactions such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, rash, nausea, and angioneurotic edema may occur after taking Ezetimibe. If a patient taking ezetimibe is diagnosed with or develops a suspected myopathy, or develops a significant adverse reaction, it is necessary to discontinue treatment with this medication; however, it is not recommended that patients discontinue treatment on their own without the above mentioned conditions and without the doctor’s recommendation to discontinue treatment with the medication. Patients who need to use ezetimibe should take it under the guidance of a doctor, and should not stop taking it blindly.
