How to use metronidazole

Metronidazole is more common metronidazole tablets, metronidazole vaginal gel, metronidazole suppositories, etc. Metronidazole tablets are oral medication, metronidazole gel and metronidazole suppositories are topical medication.
1. Metronidazole tablets: this drug is mainly oral, can treat anaerobic bacteria can also be anti-trichomoniasis, this drug will inhibit the metabolism of alcohol, should be avoided during the use of alcohol. A few patients will have adverse reactions, such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, vertigo, urticaria, itching and so on.
2. Metronidazole vaginal gel: this drug is mainly used externally, mainly for bacterial vaginosis, the method of use is to insert the front end of the medication device deep into the vagina, push the booster lever to make the gel into the deep vagina.
Adverse effects of this drug are relatively rare, and may include vulvar itching, frequent urination, vaginal burning and vulvar swelling, and long-term use may cause seizures and peripheral neuropathy.
3. Metronidazole suppositories: Metronidazole suppositories are also vaginally administered drugs that can treat bacterial vaginosis and trichomonas vaginitis, and can be placed in the posterior fornix of the vagina every night after washing the vulva before going to bed. Adverse reactions are occasionally allergic, pregnant women should not be used within the third trimester of pregnancy, lactating women should be cautious.
