What is the appropriate age for pediatric congenital outer and middle ear malformation surgery?

Q: At what age is the earliest surgery appropriate for a pediatric patient who was born without an outer ear and has no ear piercing? Should the surgery be performed in the order of piercing surgery or outer ear repair surgery first? A: Regarding the technology and timing related to the surgical treatment of congenital external ear deformities: 1. The best time for surgical treatment is after the age of 6 weeks, usually no older than 14 years. However, surgery is still possible after the age of 14 years. 2. It is best to do external auditory reconstruction and external auditory canal reconstruction with hearing reconstruction at the same time. If you cannot or do not have the conditions, you can do the ear canal reconstruction first and then the hearing reconstruction, but in practice, the chance of hearing reconstruction is very small. 3. If hearing reconstruction is done first and then ear canal reconstruction is done, it will be very difficult. An exhaustive audiological examination and evaluation, detailed middle and outer ear imaging should be done before surgery.
