Located at the midpoint of the line connecting Cataract and Wind Pool, Anmian acupoint is mainly used for treating insomnia, headache and vertigo. It is in the middle of the tendon of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, with the head-pinching muscle and occipital artery and vein in the deep part, and branches of the occipital small nerve and the great nerve of the ear, which is equivalent to the area between the Fengchi point and the Cataract point. Anmian point can be used to treat insomnia, headache and dizziness, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), psychosis and other conditions. Modern clinical applications include neurasthenia and hysteria. The treatment of insomnia can be paired with Sanyinjiao and Shenmen; the treatment of dizziness and insomnia can be paired with Sishencong, Fengchi, Baihui and solar plexus points. Acupuncture must be operated by a professional Chinese medicine practitioner.
