The use of insulin must be prevented “four chemical”

Insulin is an important class of drugs used clinically in the treatment of diabetes, but in the specific use of the majority of diabetics often appear four kinds of wrong ideas, here need to be corrected. 1, insulin application “last line of defense” Many diabetic patients will think that insulin is the last line of defense in the treatment of diabetes, so they will artificially take insulin as a drug that will not be applied as a last resort. This is a mistake. Whether it is insulin or oral medication, both are a means to control blood sugar, and there is no order of priority in blood sugar control. Therefore, as long as the blood glucose cannot be satisfactorily controlled, the insulin should be added in time. 2, insulin use “error lifelong” There are many diabetic patients who are afraid to use insulin because they have a wrong feeling: once applied, insulin will be used for life, and some patients even think that insulin use will be “addictive”. Such a belief is also wrong. There is no medication or means to “cure” diabetes once and for all, but only medication to maintain satisfactory blood glucose control over a long period of time to slow down or reduce the development of complications. This means that both insulin and oral medications need to be used for a long time, and there is no question of addiction. In addition, the effect of oral medication depends on the body’s own islet function and current blood glucose status. In the case of unsatisfactory islet function or extremely elevated blood glucose, oral medication does not play the ideal purpose of blood glucose control, while insulin is not affected by these conditions. Therefore, clinically, we can also see that through short-term intensive insulin therapy, the blood glucose can be satisfactorily controlled and then the islet function can be partially restored, and at this time, we can get better treatment effect by switching to oral medication. In addition, the use of insulin during surgery can also play a role in promoting wound healing and reducing postoperative infection, which is difficult to achieve with oral medication, and can continue to switch to oral medication after the wound recovers. Therefore, insulin use is not addictive and will not be lifelong if applied properly. 3, insulin treatment “arbitrary management” In the clinic, we also see some diabetic patients to the other extreme of insulin awareness, thinking that since they have taken insulin, they can relax the management of their own diet and exercise, anyway, high blood sugar can be solved by more insulin. This is also wrong. Regardless of the stage of diabetes, diet control and exercise are good basic lifestyle changes that should be adhered to. Whether it is oral medication or insulin, satisfactory control of blood sugar is based on being able to manage your lifestyle scientifically and reasonably. If you relax the management of diet and exercise after using insulin, on the one hand, you will lose satisfactory control of blood sugar, and on the other hand, you will increase insulin at will to cope with the high blood sugar caused by indulgent diet, which will lead to the side effects of insulin (weight gain, edema) soon, which is extremely unfavorable to the prevention and treatment of long-term complications of diabetic patients. 4, insulin injections, “the sword of the boat” Many patients after starting to use insulin will have questions: why I played insulin blood sugar is not as good as when taking oral medication? After the patient’s consultation, the doctor set a starting dosage, but the patient did not adjust the insulin dosage according to the blood sugar in time. The use of insulin is a very individualized treatment plan, that is to say, patients need to use the starting dosage according to the doctor, and then increase or decrease in a timely manner according to the results of blood glucose monitoring, and the law of increasing or decreasing insulin dosage also requires patients to form different “carbohydrate-insulin equivalents” for each patient by using insulin, recording diet and exercise, and monitoring blood glucose. “This is a simulation correction. If you use one dose forever and do not make timely adjustment according to the current situation, then it is like trying to get satisfactory blood sugar control. The above “four” are the problems that often occur in the use of insulin in general, diabetic patients should refer to their own situation, refer to the doctor’s advice and make improvements, so that insulin, an effective treatment for diabetes, can be used to maximize the most desirable therapeutic effect.
