Where to massage kidney stones

Patients with kidney stones are prohibited from pushing and massaging the area where the stones are located to avoid stone activity damaging the mucosa of the urethra. For the pain caused by stones, massage acupuncture points can play a role in relieving pain. The commonly used acupuncture points, Guan Yuan point, Foot San Li and San Yin Jiao, can be pressed 60-80 times for 2-3 minutes until feeling sore and swollen. Guan Yuan is located three inches below the umbilicus on the front midline of the lower abdomen; San Li is located on the front and outer side of the lower leg, one cross finger from the back edge of the tibia; San Yin Jiao is located on the inner side of the lower leg, three inches above the tip of the inner ankle. Pressing the above points helps to relieve pain. Drinking plenty of water and intravenous fluids followed by acupuncture treatment also helps to drain stones.
