There is no evidence to suggest that massaging a particular point can prevent myocardial infarction 100 percent of the time, but massaging the Neiguan, Shenmen, and Tanzhong points can assist in improving the symptoms associated with heart disease. 1. The standard positioning of the Neiguan point is in the anterior region of the forearm, 2 inches above the transverse stripe on the distal side of the palm of the wrist, between the tendon of the palmaris longus and the tendon of the flexor carpi radialis. It has the effects of calming the heart and tranquilizing the mind, dispersing the liver and harmonizing the stomach, clearing the channels and regulating qi to relieve pain (relieving pain by dispersing qi). It can be used to treat cardiothoracic conditions such as cardiac pain, palpitations (accelerated heartbeat often accompanied by panic), and tightness in the chest. 2. Shenmen acupoint is located at the wrist, at the ulnar end of the transverse stripe on the palm side of the wrist, at the radial depression of the ulnar flexor carpi radialis tendon. It can be used for treating heart pain, heartburn, dizziness (violent heartbeat and panic), palpitations, forgetfulness and insomnia. 3. The location of the danzhong point is in the center line of the chest, flat 4th intercostal space. Stimulating this point can regulate qi and broaden the chest, and is used to treat asthma, chest pain, chest tightness and palpitations. If you have any discomfort, consult a doctor in time and under the guidance of a professional doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
