Intrauterine device removal is an invasive surgical operation with relatively little trauma and usually requires 1-3 days of rest after the procedure. Removal of the IUD is indicated for those who need to reposition the IUD when it expires, those who plan to have another child, those who are ineffective in treating side effects or complications after placement of the IUD, those who need to reposition the IUD due to displacement or deformation found by ultrasound or X-ray, and those who have a pregnancy with the device and need to remove it while having an abortion. In addition, women who have been menopausal for about 0.5-1 year can also undergo IUD removal surgery. Usually, a rest period of about 1-3 days is sufficient after the procedure. If there is more bleeding, abdominal pain, fever and other complication symptoms after the operation, there is a possibility of post-operative infection, antibiotic treatment should be given and more rest time should be taken. In addition, patients are advised to take the birth control ring within 3-7 days after menstrual cleansing, and should take more rest and avoid heavy physical activities within two weeks after the ring removal.
