Tuberculosis brain cyst is a cystic swelling of brain tissue and its appendages that occurs when the brain is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Cerebral cysts can be caused by infection leading to cranial inflammation, trauma, congenital brain tissue dysplasia, etc. Therefore, when patients are infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and develop cranial inflammation, it may lead to the appearance of cerebral cysts.
Patients with tuberculous cerebral cysts may have symptoms of increased intracranial pressure such as nausea, vomiting and headache, as well as symptoms of epileptic seizures such as limb convulsions and foaming at the mouth, and may be accompanied by neurological impairments such as eyelid ptosis, visual disturbances, numbness of the limbs, and cognitive dysfunctions.
When patients present with tuberculous cerebral cysts, they should consult the doctor and undergo appropriate treatment in order to avoid delaying their condition.
