Coma Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment

Coma can be categorized as “syncope” in traditional Chinese medicine, which is divided into qi syncope (syncope caused by disorder of human qi), phlegm syncope and blood syncope, and can be treated with the formulas of Wu Mu Drinking Ceremony, Phlegm Conducting Soup and Tong Yu Decoction. 1. Qi syncope: solid evidence manifests as sudden fainting after great anger or great sorrow, unconsciousness, coarse breathing, cold extremities (cold extremities, even to the elbows and knees), etc. The treatment should be to open the orifices, smooth the qi, and relieve the depression, and Wu Mu Drinking Seed can be used. Phlegm syncope: clinical manifestations of cough or fainting after anger, phlegm, gas, vomiting phlegm and saliva, etc., the treatment should be to move the qi and open the phlegm, can be used to guide the phlegm soup treatment. 3. Blood syncope: the clinical manifestations of the actual evidence are sudden fainting, teeth closed, face and lips blue, etc. The treatment should be to calm the liver and submerge the yang (inhibit the rise of too much yang qi in the liver), regulate qi and promote the flow of qi, which can be treated with the Tongyi Decoction. Clinical manifestations of deficiency are fainting after blood loss, pale face, sweating and cold limbs, etc. Treatment should be to replenish qi and nourish blood, which can be treated with Duchen Tang or Ginseng Nourishing Rong Tang.
