The process of anoscopy is usually a combination of dietary preparation, bowel preparation, and actual operation together.
Proctoscopy is to insert a flexible tube with a camera in the anterior part of the anus, observe the situation in the anus through the camera, and take part of the tissues for pathologic examination to cooperate with the diagnosis and treatment.
1. Dietary preparation: the day before the examination, you should start eating semi-liquid food, such as noodles, rice and other easy-to-digest food, try not to eat leafy food, 12 hours before the examination to prohibit the consumption of any food.
2. Bowel preparation: the doctor will prescribe auxiliary laxative preparations, such as polyethylene glycol, the patient’s anorectal food debris, feces, all excluded from the body, which is conducive to the examination of the patient’s anorectal internal situation.
3. Practical operation: the patient needs to set up a good position, you can choose a comfortable position of the left side of the lying position, and bend the knees toward the chest. The examinee needs to use sedative medication before the examination, which is usually given intravenously to alleviate the patient’s discomfort. A cavity towel is placed on the buttocks for localized anal anti-inflammation.
The doctor will apply sufficiently lubricating paraffin oil to a fiber catheter with an attached mirror and slowly insert it into the anus to reduce patient discomfort.
Gradually, gas is injected into the intestinal canal to expand the lumen and open it up, which facilitates visualization of the inside of the rectum, colon, and other intestinal tracts. The sampling forceps in the scope can be used to take biopsies of local tissues for pathologic examination.
Normally, the length of the colonoscopy is 20-30 minutes. It is recommended that people with symptoms such as change in bowel movement, blood in stool, abdominal pain, bloating, or family history of intestinal tumors, should undergo routine anoscopy for early observation, early detection and early prevention.
