What Chinese medicines can the elderly take for frequent urination



Chinese patent medicines that can be taken by the elderly for frequent urination include Gui Fu Di Huang Wan, Shrinking Spring Pill and Yu Gui Wan. Gui Fu Di Huang Wan has the effect of warming and tonifying the kidney yang (warming and replenishing the yang qi of the kidneys); Shrinking Spring Pill has the effect of tonifying the kidneys and reducing urination; and Right Angelica Pill has the effect of warming and tonifying the kidney yang, filling up the essence and stopping emission (filling up the solid essence and preventing the emission of spermatozoa and semen slippage).

1. Gui Fu Di Huang Wan (桂附地黄丸): the main ingredients are cinnamon, ripened di Huang (熟地黄), Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori (附子), and Mudan Pi (牡丹皮). It is mainly used for treating the symptoms of insufficient kidney yang (lack of yang qi in the kidneys), such as coldness and impotence of the waist and knees, frequent urination, phlegm (a pathological product of impaired metabolism of water and fluid), and wheezing and coughing. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Gui Fu Di Huang Wan are not clear. It should be noted that pregnant women should not take.

2. Shrinking Spring Pill: It is composed of Chinese yam, Chinese aconite, and Yizhi Ren. It is mainly used to treat frequent urination caused by kidney deficiency. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Shrinking Spring Pills are not clear. It should be noted that, during the use of medicine, avoid spicy, cold, greasy food; cold and fever patients should not take.

3. Right Angelica Pill: the main ingredients are ripened rhubarb, cinnamon, slices of shellfish, wine cornelian and so on. It can treat the deficiency of kidney and yang caused by waist and knee soreness and coldness, mental instability, frequent and clear urination, loose stools, impotence and spermatorrhea.
