A wrist sprain is an injury to the joint capsule, ligaments, fascia, and other tissues of the wrist caused by violent action. The wrist joint is located between the hand and forearm, and a history of trauma is usually evident when diagnosing the condition. Treatment is often based on immobilization and medication, supplemented by rehabilitative exercises.
Rehabilitation exercises are as follows: first of all, the pain is relieved about 24 hours after the injury, the affected finger can start to do finger flexion and extension movements, after 3~5 days the pain is reduced, the fist can be made with force and finger extension movements, and after removing the external immobilization, wrist flexion and extension and forearm rotation activities are carried out. This rehabilitation exercise should be performed in such a way that it does not aggravate the pain in the wrist.
If the patient has a sprained wrist, it is recommended that he/she go to a regular hospital for treatment. If the injury is not treated properly after the injury, it may cause the occurrence of symptoms such as instability of the wrist joint.
