When to retain 24-hour urine protein

When urine protein is found to be significantly higher than normal during routine urine examination, patients need to undergo 24-hour urine protein quantification test. This retention method mainly collects all the urine produced in 24 hours to clarify the total amount of protein excreted by the human kidneys in 24 hours. If the total amount of protein in the urine is >150mg/24 hours, it can be diagnosed as proteinuria, and if the total amount of protein is >3.5g/24 hours, it is massive proteinuria. 24-hour urine protein quantification can reflect the abnormalities of human kidney function more truly, and at the same time, it can make a qualitative diagnosis, and if it is diagnosed as proteinuria, the main consideration is the occurrence of glomerulonephritis in the kidney. Glomerulonephritis has primary as well as secondary factors, so the specific cause of the glomerulopathy has to be further investigated, but all of them have to be clarified based on the 24-hour protein quantification, and then subsequently investigated.
