When to do video EEG monitoring

Video EEG is now widely used in the diagnosis of epilepsy. If there is a clinical need to capture seizures, prolonged video EEG monitoring must be done, usually for 24 hours, but this can be extended to 72 hours if needed. During video EEG monitoring, all activities are performed in the monitoring bed as much as possible, including eating, urinating and defecating, and if it is necessary, the medical technician can be asked to temporarily remove the leads and resume monitoring afterwards.
