Is hpv58 positive considered serious?

Whether a positive cervical HPV58 is considered serious depends on whether it has caused cervical lesions. If no cervical lesions have occurred, it is not serious. However, if it has caused cervical pre-cancer or cervical cancer, it is more serious. A cervical HPV test that is positive for HPV58 does not determine if it is serious or not because about 80% of women may have been infected with this high-risk type of human papillomavirus at some point in time, so it is necessary to look at a cervical TCT test. 1. If the cervical TCT is normal, then it means that the infection is now simply high-risk HPV 58, which has not yet led to cervical lesions, and is therefore not serious. The vast majority of women who are infected with HPV have a transient infection, which is cleared by their own immunity and does not lead to cervical lesions. Only persistent infection may lead to cervical lesions. 2. If there is an abnormal cervical TCT test and is now HPV58 positive, it is more serious because this virus may have caused cervical lesions. A colposcopy is needed, and if necessary, a biopsy is taken for pathologic examination to determine if there is cervical lesion. If the pathologic examination determines precancerous cervical lesions or cervical cancer, early surgical treatment is needed.
