Pathologic changes of giant cell tumor of bone can be divided into gross manifestations and microscopic manifestations.
1. Naked eye manifestation
The tumor tissue is very soft and brittle, with rich blood supply, the tumor tissue is reddish-brown, and yellow ferritin-containing substances can be seen to be deposited with the naked eye. Cystic changes are common, and hard and tough tissues can be scraped out near the edge.
2.Microscopic manifestation
Giant cell tumor of bone can be divided into three grades according to the differentiation degree, among which grade 1, stromal cells are quite sparse, with few nuclear divisions, and many multinucleated giant cells; grade 2, stromal cells are many and dense, with more nuclear divisions; grade 3, stromal cells are predominantly present, with obvious nuclear anisotropy, many divisions, and very few multinucleated cells.
Giant cell tumor of bone is an osteolytic tumor originated from cancellous bone, its etiology is not clear, but the tumor is mainly composed of giant cells (osteoclasts) and stromal cells. The main clinical symptoms are pain and swelling, and limited movement of the diseased joints.
If diagnosed with osteoblastoma, patients are advised to seek medical treatment in time and actively cooperate with physicians for relevant treatments, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
