What’s the meaning of neoplasia?



Neoplasia is a pathology that refers to atypical proliferation of epithelial cells also called abnormal proliferation.

Organs with neoplasia include the cervix, endometrium, male prostate, gastrointestinal system, esophagus, and other areas covered with epithelial tissue. With different epithelial tissue typing, the neoplasia also has different structural characteristics. Common types of neoplasia include vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia, penile intraepithelial neoplasia, and endometrial epithelial neoplasia.

As neoplasia also belongs to the category of precancerous lesions, once discovered, it should be promptly examined and treated in regular hospitals to determine the stage of neoplasia and choose the correct treatment method to prevent further progression of the disease.
