What does a high hemoglobin of 176 mean?

A hemoglobin concentration of 176 g/L is higher than the normal hemoglobin concentration and may be due to physiologic or pathologic factors.

The normal hemoglobin concentration in adult males is 120-160 g/L and in adult females 110-150 g/L. Hemoglobin 176 g/L is above the normal range for both males and females. High hemoglobin may be due to physiologic causes or pathologic factors.

Physiological high hemoglobin may be related to heavy exercise and low water intake, and generally high hemoglobin caused by physiological factors does not require special treatment. High hemoglobin caused by pathological factors is commonly found in large burns, severe diarrhea and other diseases, and may also be related to blood system diseases. If it is caused by pathologic factors, it is recommended to consult a doctor for timely treatment.
