Proper understanding of gallbladder polyps

There are more and more patients with gallbladder polyps detected by ultrasound in clinical practice, and many of them are very nervous and some of them even choose to have their gallbladders surgically removed too aggressively. In fact, the gallbladder polyps found by ultrasound should be called gallbladder polyp-like lesions or gallbladder augmentation-like lesions, which means that the gallbladder has the same disease as gallbladder polyps, or that the gallbladder has augmentation disease, the nature of which cannot be determined by ultrasound yet. The reason for this is that ultrasound technology cannot determine the nature of the material adhering to the gallbladder wall that is smaller than 1 cm and has no acoustic shadow. Clinically, most of these cases are when stones start to form in the gallbladder especially when the gallbladder polyps are multiple. Suggestions: If you encounter the above situation, you can first perform ultrasound examination once a month for three consecutive times, if there is no change, change to once every six months, and then once a year, and consider surgical treatment when you encounter cholecystitis and gallbladder wall thickening.
