What causes scabies

Scabies is a common parasitic disease of the body surface caused by infection with the scabies worm. Scabies is most commonly transmitted through direct skin contact or indirect contact. The most common clinical cases of scabies transmission are those that occur after high-risk sexual behavior or when the patient goes to live in a hostel in a poor environment. There are also cases where the patient is infected by a person with whom he or she lives, because scabies can be transmitted clinically through clothing, towels, bed sheets, and even through shaking hands. Therefore, it is emphasized in the clinic that if scabies occurs, not only the patient needs to be treated, but also the people who are in close contact with him/her should be treated together if they also have symptoms.
