How acute left heart failure is treated

Acute left heart failure can be treated with medications such as furosemide and bumetanide as prescribed by the doctor, and surgically if necessary. 1. Medication: The following medications are recommended to be used under doctor’s supervision. Furosemide, bumetanide and other drugs can reduce cardiac preload, sodium nitroprusside, nitroglycerin can dilate the coronary artery and improve myocardial ischemia, low molecular heparin, warfarin can prevent venous thrombosis. 2. Surgical treatment: For patients complicated with acute myocardial infarction, percutaneous coronary intervention can be used. For those caused by heart valves, heart valve repair is recommended. 3. Others: Intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation can increase intra-aortic diastolic pressure, increase coronary blood supply and improve myocardial ischemia. When acute left heart failure is diagnosed, immediate hospitalization is recommended.
