Posterior circulation obstruction, i.e., posterior circulation disorder, is the obstruction of blood circulation caused by cerebrovascular lesions or tumor compression, which in turn can lead to cerebrovascular lesions.
1. The posterior circulation, also known as the vertebrobasilar system, consists of the vertebral artery, basilar artery and posterior cerebral artery, and mainly supplies blood to the brainstem, cerebellum, thalamus, occipital lobe, frontal lobe and spinal cord. When the posterior circulation is blocked, it will lead to cerebral ischemia and a series of cerebrovascular lesions such as transient ischemic attack and cerebral infarction will occur.
2. The causes of posterior circulation obstruction include atherosclerosis, aneurysm and other causes of posterior circulation compression, large artery stenosis and occlusion causing hypoperfusion, thrombosis and arteriogenic embolism, etc., which result in obstruction of the posterior circulation, and then ischemia occurs.
3. Clinical manifestations such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, ataxia, blurred vision, etc. often occur due to poor blood flow and insufficient blood supply to the brain. Its treatment needs to be symptomatic according to the specific disease to relieve compression, restore blood supply and other treatments.
If there is numbness of the limbs, vision loss, speech impediment, you need to go to the hospital in time to find out the cause and follow the doctor’s advice to actively treat.
