How to Determine Facial Swelling

When swelling occurs in the face, symptoms of facial swelling can be determined by visual inspection of the facial skin and by pressing on the facial skin. 1. Visual examination of the facial skin: The skin of the human face can be observed to see the lines and folds around the skin. When swelling occurs in the face, it will make the outer skin cells of the facial skin less malleable, the amount of water will increase, and the facial skin will not appear to have small lines or folds in a certain direction. 2. Press the facial skin: In general, the elasticity of the facial skin is good, pressing the face will immediately rebound and return to its original state. However, when the face is swollen, pressing on the facial skin will result in a brief depression of the skin. Although these two methods can determine facial swelling, they have a certain degree of error, therefore, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a clear diagnosis when relevant symptoms occur.
