The pharmacopoeia recommends that the dosage of Cangzhu is 3~9g, and the dosage of Chickweed Vine is 10~15g, and the specifics need to follow the doctor’s prescription for medication. Atractylodes macrocephala has the effect of dispelling wind and dispersing cold (dispelling wind evil and dispelling cold evil), drying dampness and strengthening spleen, and brightening the eyes. It is used for dampness obstructing the middle jiao (dampness obstructing the function of the spleen and stomach), diarrhea, epigastric (abdominal) distension, edema, wind-cold cold, wind-dampness paralytic pain, foot fungus, night blindness, and dimness of the eyes. Adverse reactions are not clear, Yin deficiency and internal heat, Qi deficiency and excessive sweating are prohibited. Chicken Gui Vine has the effects of dispelling wind and dampness (eliminating wind and dampness in the body), detoxifying and eliminating swelling, eliminating food and resolving stagnant food (digesting stagnant food), and activating blood circulation and relieving pain (relieving pain by eliminating blood stasis). It is used in treating rheumatism and paralysis, food stagnation (the accumulation of food in the stomach due to indigestion), abdominal distension, sunstroke, jaundice, cough, carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the internal organs of the intestines and bowels, manifested by fever, pain in the right side of the abdomen, and palpable lump), diarrhea, dysentery, anonymous swellings and poison; and wet, swollen, and rotting feet, among other conditions. Adverse reactions and contraindications are unclear. The use of Cangzhu or Chickweed Vine for the treatment of diseases should be guided by a doctor’s diagnosis.
