Do you need a tetanus shot for a stapled finger?

A stapled finger does not need a tetanus shot if it is only a superficial wound. If the wound is deeper, a tetanus shot is needed because tetanus bacilli can easily multiply in narrow and deep wounds leading to infection.
1. No need for tetanus: If the wound is shallow, with little or no bleeding, and is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, the more superficial wound is not easy for Clostridium tetani to grow, so tetanus can be avoided.
2. Need tetanus: If the wound is deep and bleeds a lot, tetanus antitoxin injection is needed to prevent tetanus, and the wound should be treated in time to prevent infection. The treatment of the wound is generally thorough debridement and disinfection, taking antibiotics such as amoxicillin to prevent infection.
Patients are advised to go to the hospital as soon as possible after the injury.
