Stone reed herb, also known as Shi Wei, is known for its diuretic and diaphoretic properties (improves the problem of dribbling and small amount of urine that does not pass), and clears the lungs and drains heat. The contraindications of stone reed are not clear at this time. Shi Wei is the dried leaves of Lushan Shi Wei, Shi Wei or Stalked Shi Wei of the family of Shuilongbiao. It is bitter, sweet, cool in nature, and belongs to the lung and bladder meridians. It has the effect of diuretic and diaphoretic, clearing the lungs and draining heat, and is used in diseases such as dysuria (unsmooth urination), gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, drenching and astringent pain), coughing and wheezing due to lung heat, and dysentery. Since Shi Wei is cool in nature, it is not recommended for patients with cold spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach), or need to be used under the guidance of a doctor. The use of Shi Wei needs to be guided by a doctor’s diagnosis, so as to avoid the situation where the medicine is not suitable for the patient and the condition is miscarried.
