Is myeloma cured if it hasn’t returned in 10 years?

Ten years without a recurrence of myeloma is not a cure. Multiple myeloma is still recognized as unpreventable or incurable, and relapse is the biggest challenge that all patients, their families and doctors have to face together. 1. Patients with multiple myeloma can achieve CR, or complete remission, by undergoing autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, thus striving for a longer disease-free survival. 2. Multiple myeloma has stepped into the era of targeting, and the prognosis of patients has been significantly improved through individualized treatment, but they still have to go through the cycle of remission-relapse-remission-relapse. 3. The aim of multiple myeloma treatment is not to cure, but to achieve long-term control of the disease and prolong the survival period. Once multiple myeloma recurs, the prognosis is very poor. It is recommended to follow up with standardized treatment and participate in clinical trials if possible. Patients are advised to go to the hospital in time.
