How to understand vision problems after cataract surgery in layman’s terms?

Good vision after cataract surgery depends on two things: first, the surgery should be good, and second, the retina of the fundus should be good.

The eye is like a camera. The lens is equivalent to the camera lens, and the fundus retina is equivalent to the film negative of the camera. Cataract surgery is the removal of the cloudy lens and the implantation of an artificial lens. In other words, cataract surgery is the repair of a camera lens. If the film negative of the camera (fundus retina) is not good, even if the lens is good, the image will still be blurry. Therefore, the vision after cataract surgery may not be the same for each person or for different eyes of the same person.
