The cause is mostly chemical cystitis, which is caused by the stimulation of the bladder mucosa by chemotherapy drugs, rather than bacterial infection. In general, no special treatment is needed, and tolterodine, a drug that inhibits bladder overactivity, can be given if necessary, without antibiotics if there is no evidence of bacterial infection. Suspension of perfusion chemotherapy may be considered in the event of chemical cystitis, and treatment should be resumed after 2-3 weeks when the condition improves, or if an inflammatory response still occurs, the chemotherapy drug species should be changed to continue treatment. Patients should drink as little water as possible or abstain from water for 3-4 hours before bladder infusion chemotherapy to avoid excessive urine production during bladder immersion with chemotherapy drugs, which dilutes the drug concentration and reduces the efficacy. Drink a lot of water quickly after the end of chemotherapy and rely on the urine produced to flush the bladder to reduce the adverse effects.
