Can you take targeted drugs for bladder cancer?

Patients with bladder cancer are not recommended to take targeted drugs because of the current research, which shows that targeted drugs are not effective for bladder cancer. If it is early stage bladder cancer, transurethral bladder tumor electrosurgery can be performed and postoperative bladder irrigation chemotherapy is given. Commonly used drugs include gemcitabine, piribicin, epirubicin, etc., and BCG vaccine can also be used for treatment. In case of advanced bladder cancer, radical surgical resection of bladder cancer can be performed. If bladder cancer patients cannot undergo surgery or have metastasis, intravenous chemotherapy with GC regimen or intravenous chemotherapy with MVAC regimen is recommended. Currently, immunosuppressants are effective against bladder cancer, such as PD-L1 or PD-1, so patients with bladder cancer are not recommended to take targeted drugs.
