Is fulminant hepatitis contagious?

Whether or not fulminant hepatitis is contagious depends on the cause of the disease. If the disease is caused by abnormal liver function or liver failure due to hepatitis B or a combination of hepatitis A, B, or E, the disease is contagious and most outbreaks of hepatitis are caused by this cause; if the outbreak is caused by other causes such as excessive alcohol consumption, the disease is not contagious. Consult your doctor for details after the relevant tests. Infectious hepatitis is mainly transmitted through diet and blood, not through the air, so wash your hands before touching the patient’s belongings or eating, avoid touching the patient’s food, and use communal chopsticks at dinner parties.
