Whether a bowel score of 5 needs to be redone depends on the bowel score. Bowel scoring mainly includes BBPS (Boston Bowel Preparedness Scale) and OBPS (Ottawa Bowel Preparedness Scale) two scoring methods, which need to be analyzed specifically. 1. BBPS score: can be respectively: 1 to 4 is poor, 5 is qualified, 6 to 7 is good, 8 to 9 is excellent. According to the guideline of bowel preparation for gastrointestinal endoscopy diagnosis and treatment, the total score of BBPS scoring method is ≥6 points as the standard of adequate bowel preparation before colonoscopy, therefore, although 5 points are qualified, it still falls short of the standard of colonoscopy, and generally needs to be redone once again. 2. OBPS score: it refers to the evaluation of three segments, for the sigmoid colon and rectum, descending colon and transverse colon, cecum and ascending colon. When the total OBPS score ≥ 6 is inadequate bowel preparation and needs to be redone, therefore application of this method with a score of 5 suggests that the bowel has been prepared and does not need to be redone. Bowel preparation should be done under the supervision of a physician so that inadequate preparation does not interfere with treatment.
