Taking Si Miao Pill is not very useful for patients with Damp-Heat in the spleen, stomach and liver/gallbladder (Damp-Heat evil qi accumulates in the liver/gallbladder).
Damp-heat in the spleen and stomach is characterized by distention and stuffiness in the abdomen (feeling bloated and uncomfortable in the abdomen), dullness (lack of appetite, reduced food intake), nausea and vomiting, bitter mouth and sticky mucus, thirst and lack of drinking, loose stools (stools that are not shaped, with a feeling of not being emptied after passing them), short and yellowish urination, heavy and sleepy limbs (limbs that are weak and sunken), insomnia, yellowish color of the face and itchy skin, etc. The symptoms of damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder include distension and burning pain in the abdomen and ribs, abdominal distension and anorexia, and itchy skin.
Damp-heat of liver and gallbladder, as evidenced by distending pain and burning heat in the abdomen and ribs, abdominal distension and anorexia, bitter and generalized aversion in the mouth, short and reddish urine (small amount of urine, dark yellow in color) or yellowish urine, irregular stools (abnormal stools), or yellowish body and eyes, large tongue, red tongue with yellowish, thick and greasy moss, and number of strings in the pulse.
Si Miao Pill, composed of Cang Zhu, Cow Knee, Huang Bai and Coix Seed, has the effect of clearing heat and inducing dampness (getting rid of heat and dampness in the body). It is mostly used for the redness and swelling of feet and knees and pain in tendons and bones caused by dampness-heat infiltration (the invasion of dampness and heat evil into the intestines, bladder, pubic area, lower limbs, etc.), so it is not suitable for patients with dampness-heat in the spleen, stomach, and liver and gallbladder. Use with caution in pregnant women, adverse reactions are not clear.
If diagnosed with damp-heat of the spleen, stomach and liver/gallbladder, timely treatment in regular hospitals is required; if Si-Miao Pill is required, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional.
