Is a 10mm ground glass nodule serious?

A 10mm ground-glass nodule is serious if it is caused by a malignant disease such as bronchopulmonary cancer, but not serious if it is caused by a benign disease such as pneumonia. Lung nodules can be categorized into solid nodules, pure ground glass nodules and mixed ground glass nodules according to their composition. Milled glass refers to the cloudy dense shadow on chest CT. Mixed milled glass nodules have both solid and milled glass components, and pure milled glass nodules and mixed milled glass nodules are collectively called milled glass nodules. There is a certain risk that 10mm ground glass nodules are caused by malignant tumors such as bronchopulmonary carcinoma and metastatic carcinoma of the lungs, which may affect survival or even endanger life if not treated in time. If it is caused by pneumonia, malignant tumor or granuloma, it can be improved or cured by taking antibiotics such as ceftazidime or surgical treatment, and it is only a small number of patients with more severe and life-threatening condition than those with severe pneumonia. It is recommended to consult a specialist for further examination or treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
