What to look for in bone pain

Possible diseases of bone pain include: trauma, femoral head necrosis, septic osteomyelitis, primary bone tumor, bone metastasis tumor, etc. 1. Trauma: severe violent blows or serious accidents can cause bone contusion or even bone fracture, thus causing bone pain, which is manifested as local pain, edema, activity disorders, etc. If the fracture is serious, it can also appear special deformity of limbs or joints. 2. Necrosis of femoral head: Necrosis of femoral head refers to ischemic necrosis of femoral head caused by various reasons, such as fracture of femoral neck, long-term use of hormones, long-term alcoholism and so on. Patients mainly manifested as pain in the thigh root or groin area with impaired hip joint movement. 3. Purulent osteomyelitis: Purulent osteomyelitis is a purulent infection of bone, mostly seen in children and adolescents, mainly manifested by high fever, chills, severe pain in localized limbs, muscle spasm, and unwillingness of the affected limbs to move. 4. Primary bone tumor: most of the persistent bone pain is caused by malignant bone tumors, such as osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma, etc. When the tumor is large in size, soft tissue mass can be touched locally. 5. Bone metastasis: Bone metastasis will occur in the late stage of many malignant tumors, such as breast cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer and so on. If there is a history of malignant tumor with persistent bone pain, the possibility of bone metastasis should be highly suspected. Bone pain may also be caused by calcium deficiency.
