Is right carotid plaque formation serious?

The severity of plaque formation in the right carotid artery is related to the type of plaque and also to the size of the plaque. If the plaque in the right carotid artery belongs to vulnerable plaques, i.e., plaques that are unstable and easy to dislodge, it may be more likely to lead to an acute cerebrovascular event, such as cerebral infarction, which is a more serious condition. If the plaque belongs to non-vulnerable plaque, i.e., plaque that is stable and not easily dislodged, the likelihood of an acute cerebrovascular event is lower, but it still needs to be taken seriously. If the right carotid plaque is large, resulting in severe stenosis of the right carotid artery, it may cause insufficient cerebral blood supply, resulting in dizziness or limb weakness. If the plaque in the right carotid artery is small and does not cause significant stenosis of the carotid artery, the condition is relatively mild, but treatment is still needed to prevent the condition from worsening. When the right side of the carotid artery is found to have plaque formation, regardless of whether the condition is serious or not, it is necessary to go to the hospital in a timely manner, under the guidance of the physician to standardize the treatment, in order to prevent further aggravation of the condition.
