How long does it take for pharyngeal cancer to go from early to late stage

The time from early stage to late stage of pharyngeal cancer varies from person to person. The progression of the disease will be different depending on the pathological typing of the tumor, the difference of individual’s physical condition and the location of cancer growth.
1. Pathological typing of tumors: for low-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, the disease progresses faster, usually around three months to half a year; for highly-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, the development is slower, and it may take around half a year to one year.
2. Differences in physical condition of individuals: for patients with strong immunity and good psychological quality, the malignant progression can be slowed down; for the elderly and patients with low immunity, the disease will progress faster.
3. Cancer growth site: Oropharyngeal cancer and nasopharyngeal cancer have abundant lymphatic vessels at the growth site, which are prone to lymph node metastasis, and the disease progresses faster from early stage to late stage; for laryngeal cancer of vocal folds type, the surrounding tissues are fewer, and there are very few lymphatic vessels, so the progress will be slower.
Patients diagnosed with laryngopharyngeal cancer need to actively cooperate with doctors to receive reasonable treatment, keep a good mindset, strengthen nutrition, improve body immunity, and slow down the progress of the disease.
