Lumbar disc herniation is one of the most common diseases in spine surgery, with a wide range of ages, from 15 to 89 years old in our department. Lumbar disc herniation often leads to severe radiating pain in the lower extremities along the buttocks and radiates to the lower legs when the pain is obvious, causing serious images to patients’ quality of life. Previous lumbar disc herniation surgery is traumatic, with a long recovery period, and requires long-term bed rest and high cost after surgery. At present, our department adopts JOIMAX intervertebral foramoscope imported from Germany to treat lumbar disc herniation, with good surgical effect, small trauma, fast recovery, and generally can get out of bed on the same day after surgery, and can be discharged in about 3 days with lower cost. The patient was 20 years old, male. MRI showed a herniated disc at L5/S1 with nerve compression. The operation was treated with JOIMAX intervertebral foraminoscopy, and he was discharged on the second postoperative day with an excellent recovery and complete disappearance of lower extremity pain.
