Hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis may both present with thickening of the neck, and there may be a fear of heat and excessive sweating, panic and hand tremors, or, on the contrary, a fear of cold and coldness of the limbs. Hyperthyroidism, in addition to the thickening of the neck manifested as a large neck disease, may also have fear of heat and excessive sweating, panic and hand tremors, and lethargy and hyperphagia. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, or endemic goiter, in addition to the thickening of the neck, there may also be a foreign body sensation in the throat, dysphagia. When hypothyroidism is present, it may also manifest as chills, cold extremities, dry skin, and dry stools. Of course, not all of the above symptoms are necessarily caused by thyroid disease, and patients are advised to seek medical attention for further examination.
