Can hepatitis B be cured with interferon?

There is no cure for hepatitis B. There is no specific drug for hepatitis B. Interferon is not necessarily a cure for hepatitis B. Interferon has a limited role in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Interferon has immunomodulatory and antiviral effects, so it is commonly used in the treatment of viral infections. Acute hepatitis B virus infection can usually be cured by the body’s own immune system clearance. A small proportion of chronic hepatitis B patients using interferon can achieve a better therapeutic effect, but not all chronic hepatitis B patients can take interferon to treat hepatitis B. Interferon has strong side effects for some patients, which can produce serious side effects such as high fever, large amount of hair loss, and affecting fertility. Patients should be closely monitored after interferon injection, and the drug should be stopped as soon as any discomfort occurs. For interferon intolerant groups, other drugs such as entecavir should be applied instead. Interferon is contraindicated in people with allergies, severe cardiac, hepatic and renal insufficiency. The above drugs need to be used in accordance with medical advice.
