Chronic colitis belongs to the category of Chinese medicine of discharges, intestinal fetish and diarrhea, and is classified into the certificate of damp-heat of the large intestine (the large intestine feels damp-heat evil qi) and the certificate of dampness-impregnated spleen deficiency. Damp-heat in the large intestine can be treated with the addition and subtraction of Paeonia lactiflora soup, and the dampness of spleen deficiency can be treated with the addition and subtraction of Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San. 1. Damp-heat syndrome of the large intestine can be treated with the addition or subtraction of Paeonia lactiflora Tang. It can be used to treat dysentery caused by dampness-heat (dysentery caused by dampness-heat evil), which is characterized by abdominal pain, pus and blood in the stool, and redness and whiteness at the same time. Dysentery at the beginning of the superficial evidence is contraindicated. 2. Spleen deficiency and dampness evidence: can be treated with the addition and subtraction of Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San. Ginseng Ling and Atractylodes Macrocephalae has the effect of tonifying the spleen and stomach and benefiting the lungs and qi. It can be used in cases of loose stools caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach, shortness of breath and cough, tiredness and fatigue. 3. Cold-heat syndrome: treat with Wu Mei Wan. Wu Mei Wan is used for ascarid syncope, prolonged dysentery, syncopal headache (headache caused by disease evils invading the syncopal meridian), abdominal pain and dysentery, headache at the top of the head, which occurs and stops at any time, restlessness and vomiting, and coldness of the hands and feet.
