Herpes zoster is a common clinical skin disease caused by infection with the varicella-zoster virus. Herpes zoster is typically characterized by clusters of blisters distributed along strips and is associated with severe neuralgia. Another important factor in the development of clinical herpes zoster is the poor immune resistance of the patient. Some patients with strong immune resistance may present with atypical shingles. Some patients with herpes zoster may have no lesions present and only severe neuralgia, or only erythema without blistering or blistering that subsides quickly. If this happens, it is often closely related to the patient’s autoimmune resistance rather than the amount of varicella-zoster virus.
