How often is a cystostomy usually flushed?

In principle, the cystostomy tube should be flushed once a day, and attention should be paid to maintaining the cleanliness of the bladder and the patency of the tube, as well as disinfection of the stoma every day. Patients need to drink more water every day to ensure a certain amount of urine to maintain the patency of the line, especially during the hot season, and to increase the amount of water replenishment and the frequency of cystic irrigation. In principle, after the cystostomy is flushed, the drainage bag should be changed once a week or so. The cystostomy tube should be replaced at intervals of about 2-4 weeks, and can be replaced with a silicone cystostomy tube for better tissue compatibility, less local pain, and longer wear time. Patients with a cystostomy tube should have it secured to avoid local pain or mucosal bleeding due to traction. The flushing process requires the use of iodophor solution to disinfect the flushing ports to avoid artificial infection in the bladder.
