Biologic agents are a milestone in ankylosing spondylitis. In the past, the only options for ankylosing spondylitis were anti-inflammatory painkillers, hormones, or antirheumatic drugs to relieve the condition. The use of biologics, such as TNF-α antagonists, for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis has been introduced abroad 20 years ago, with rapid onset of action, few side effects, and the ability to slow the progression of the disease while improving low back pain, stiffness, and movement dysfunction, which means that it has a curative effect. Therefore, the use of biological agents for ankylosing spondylitis is a good choice. If this patient has not had good results with traditional drugs, early application of biological agents is required, and usually benefits from early use.
