Both Chuanwu and Caowu have the efficacy of dispelling wind and removing dampness, warming menstruation and relieving pain, but the plant sources of Chuanwu and Caowu are different, the original plant of Chuanwu is Aconite, a plant in the family of Trichoderma, and that of Caowu is Beiwu, a plant in the family of Trichoderma.

Chuanwu or Caowu improperly taken can appear limbs, mouth and tongue or even the whole body numbness, nausea and vomiting, respiratory distress, and even death of the toxic reaction. Raw products need to be taken with caution, pregnant women should not take, the preparation of pregnant women should be taken with caution; should not be used with half-summer, shellfish, piper betel, Ampelopsis, Bletilla.
