Sexual arousal and dopamine are related. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in our body that regulates a variety of physiological functions of the central nervous system. Dopamine has beta receptor agonism and some alpha receptor agonism, enhances myocardial contractility, increases cardiac output, and additionally plays a role in many aspects of exercise, learning, memory, and addiction. Cells in the brain, mainly located in the substantia nigra, the interpeduncular nucleus and the subthalamus, release dopamine, which can transmit excitement and happy messages and give people a feeling of pleasure. Therefore, although there is no direct relationship between dopamine and sexual function, there is a certain relationship between the feeling of pleasure after sexual arousal and dopamine, and the combination of dopamine and receptor transmission will make people feel happy and pleasant.
